It is very common for some artists to make music videos that break the rules as it creates hype which increases the amount of views and sales. The main group of artists that break the rules are the more niche artists as they are the artists that need to create more fascination about them.

This song breaks the rule of conventions as the video is taken all in one shot without any cuts or editing techniques. This means we see no typical close up shots or extreme close up shots of the artists face, this is one of the main conventional rules in typical videos and this video breaks that. Another rule in which this video breaks is that the video is all shot in a location when usually we see some close ups and extreme close ups of the artists face in a studio based location. This video breaks many of the most important conventional rules but this is what makes people want to watch it.


The White Stripes- The Hardest Button to Button



This video breaks the typical rules of convention as we don't see any close up shots of the artists. This is because the video is forever changing beat by beat. In this video we don't see any studio based shots as all the footage we see is on the streets and in the tube stations. This is very different as typical conventional music videos stick to one location and a studio based video.
